Fort Wayne time zone hearing:
Taught us:
1. Not to have a hearing that was held with very short
notice for the public to attend.
2. Have as many citizens as possible show up voicing
their support for the Central time zone.
3. Have as many business leaders show up as possible
to refute the claims made by the Indiana Chamber of
Commerce, and your local Chamber of Commerce (if
they support the Eastern time zone).
The final count for the Fort Wayne time zone hearing was:
16 speakers for Eastern ,which consisted of:
2 - Ohio State Representatives
1 - Head of Realtor's Association
1 - Indiana Chamber of Commerce
1 - Fort Wayne Chamber of Commerce
1 - N.E. Indiana Economic Council
1 - N.E. Iniana Business Development
9 regular citizens
7 for Central: all regular citizens
This is a recipe for disaster, and was very much like the make-up seen
at the daylight savings time hearings. This cannot be repeated at any
other hearings for us as hoosiers for central time to succeed. |
