Plymouth votes for central time

Plymouth, IN - When it comes to daylight saving time in Indiana many counties are still trying to decide what time zone they want to be in.

Monday night, leaders in Plymouth made their choice official.

All five common council members voted in favor of supporting central daylight saving time.

Plymouth is Marshall County's largest city. Next Monday, Marshall County leaders will finalize their plans to petition the U.S. government for a hearing on the matter.

“A unified declaration has been issued to be placed in the central DST time zone, and we urge the U.S Department of Transportation to mandate as law," said Gary Cook, Plymouth Mayor.

Ultimately it's up to the U.S. DOT to decide. So far South Bend has also sided with Plymouth, in a push for central time.
