State would lose on Eastern time

Here we are in the great state of Indiana and each county has been posed the same question: What time zone do you want to be in?

We here in Elkhart County have been given the opportunity to ally ourselves with Kosciusko, Marshall and St. Joe counties. Now we don't seem willing to work with St. Joe. Why? Why are we better off on Eastern time? Why not Central? What do we have to lose by being allied more with Chicago than New York? When did Indiana truly become an Eastern state?

Yes, Indiana is east of the Mississippi, but what good does it do for business that sell nationwide to be on Eastern time? It doesn't! We will all lose valuable time to sell due to the fact that we will be at home at 5 p.m. when someone who is calling our offices from California at 2 p.m. their time. It's better to be 4 p.m. here and 2 p.m. out on the West Coast. This should be simple, but we are behind and moving up an hour will never put us ahead ... of anything!
